Congratulations to Kelly, our #1 Sales Leader for 2016/17!
Over the last year our Avon Sales Leaders have been working extremely hard, and at our National Sales Conference last week on the Gold Coast, our top 130 Sales Leaders were recognised for their amazing achievements for 2016/17. Kelly Lakeman was honoured to be named #1 Sales Leader for ANZ at the gala dinner, and was thrilled to be presented with the keys to her very own Audi.
Kelly has been with Avon for over seventeen years and is married with two beautiful children. Her passion to inspire others extends more than Avon- she also teaches Zumba, and tells us that inspiring others to just ‘move’ and ‘dance it out’ makes her head sing! Kelly says she is known as the dancing Avon Lady. We caught up with Kelly to find out a little more about what motivates her, her passion for Avon, as well as her number one tip for new Sales Leaders.
What has been the highlight of your Avon journey so far?
Achieving the Sales Leadership Queenstown Incentive. It was a goal of mine to earn a trip and now, thanks to Avon, I have. It was a wonderful experience – something I would have never booked for myself – so I feel blessed and grateful for the opportunity.
I chose Avon as I realised shortly after having my daughter that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mum. I was a registered nurse and didn’t want to return to shift work with a baby at home. I was looking for a work-from-home opportunity when I saw the Avon ad in the newspaper!
Why do you stay with Avon?
I stay because of the freedom, flexibility and opportunities I have! Working the hours I want means I can both earn an income and be at home with my family. I have been homeschooling my son, who has Autism, for the past 4 years – being able to be there for him has given me the work/life balance I need. To be able to reach out and touch the lives of so many and offer them the earning opportunity blows my mind! It is powerful and rewarding to be able to empower others and enrich their lives. The friendships I have made through Avon are for life, and – of course – so is all the fun I’ve had along the way!
What motivates you?
Challenges and successes motivate me! As a family it’s been a difficult journey having a child with special needs, but we push through no matter what. The challenges motivate me to be the best support I can be for my family. They teach me to be strong, and to believe that there is always a way – I always have optimism and hope! Seeing others succeed is also a huge inspiration. My team also motivate me to be the best Leader and the best "me" I can be, because I really want to support and motivate them on their own journey to success.
What tip do you have for a new Sales Leader?
My one tip to a new, up and coming Sales Leader: consistency and communication are key! Do something every day for your business. Create a plan and work to it, the action is in the doing. Communicate with your team, be authentic, build relationships, love what you do and share your passion.
What is your favourite quote?
"Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life!"
What is the Avon product that you can’t live without?
